How Much Does a Website Cost in Kenya?

Website pricing in Kenya varies wildly, and a lot of that variation has nothing to do with quality. Here's a transparent breakdown of what you should actually expect to pay, and what should be included at each price point.

There's no single answer — and be wary of anyone who gives you one

"How much does a website cost?" is a bit like asking "how much does a car cost?" — the honest answer depends entirely on what you actually need. A single-page brochure site and a full online store with inventory management are not the same job, and shouldn't be the same price. What matters is that whoever you work with publishes their pricing clearly, so you know what you're getting before you commit.

What website pricing actually looks like in Kenya

At Xclusive Tech, pricing is published and broken into tiers based on what the site needs to do — not guesswork:

  • Limited launch offer — KES 20,000: a single-page site, mobile-first, with a WhatsApp contact button and basic SEO. Limited to the first 10 new clients on this offer.
  • Starter Site — KES 31,500–45,500: up to 5 pages, custom design, basic on-page SEO, contact form and WhatsApp integration. Fits company profiles, professional services, and single-location businesses.
  • Business Growth — KES 49,000–62,000: up to 15 pages, a CMS for blog/news updates, advanced SEO and Google Analytics, social media integration. Fits multi-service companies and businesses that publish regular updates.
  • E-commerce Pro — KES 72,000–85,000: unlimited products, secure M-Pesa (Daraja API) checkout, inventory management, customer accounts. Fits retail shops and online stores that need real checkout.
  • Custom Solutions — from KES 85,000+: bespoke web apps, booking systems, marketplaces, and custom integrations for businesses that have outgrown a standard website.

What's usually left out of the headline price

Two things are almost always separate from the design/build cost, regardless of who you work with: domain registration (a .co.ke domain typically runs from KES 1,500/year) and web hosting (from around KES 3,000/year). A trustworthy agency will explain both clearly upfront rather than let you discover them at the end.

Questions worth asking before you pay a deposit

  • Is the price published, or does it only appear after a "consultation"?
  • How many pages, and what happens if I need more later?
  • Does basic SEO come included, or is it a separate add-on?
  • How many rounds of revisions are included?
  • How long is delivery meant to take, realistically?
  • Can I pay via M-Pesa, in stages?

If those answers are vague, that's usually a sign the final invoice will be too.
